So You’re Going to DLT Malta? Read This First.

🎟️ 1. Book Early — Like, Seriously Early

ree
  • Festival tickets sell out FAST, especially VIP.

  • Payment plans are offered—take advantage of them.

  • Flights to Malta aren’t the cheapest, so book at least 3–6 months in advance to catch decent rates.

  • Consider a multi-city flight to add another European stop (like Rome or Barcelona) for the same or less.

🏡 2. Stay in Sliema, St. Julian’s, or Valletta

  • These areas are central, walkable, and filled with restaurants and nightlife.

  • Sliema especially has gorgeous waterfront views and easy ferry access.

  • Events are often held near Ta' Qali or Café del Mar, so expect ~20–30 minutes travel time.

Pro tip: Save money and time with a good Airbnb split between friends.

🚗 3. Download Bolt

  • Uber is used in Malta but—Bolt is the go-to ride-share app.

  • Rides usually range from €10–€30 depending on distance and time of day.

  • You can rent cars or use buses, but Bolt is more efficient—especially when heading to late-night venues.

🕺🏾 4. Prepare for a UK Vibe

  • DLT Malta is heavily attended by the UK diaspora, so the music, crowd energy, and dress code reflect that.

  • Expect Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall, UK Drill, and UK Rap, not as much U.S.-style hip-hop. Although there will be a good 1-2 DJS that play it.

  • The fashion is elite—think: trendy, sexy, edgy. Dress to impress but stay comfortable.

🚽 5. Go VIP If You Can Swing It

  • VIP tickets (~$700 USD) include:

    • Exclusive viewing areas

    • Shorter lines

    • Dedicated bars

    • Private bathrooms (a major plus)

  • This greatly improves your experience—especially if you hate standing in massive crowds or long lines.

🍽️ 6. Eat Before You Go (But Don’t Skip the Festival Food Either)

  • Malta has incredible food. Go heavy on Mediterranean dishes and seafood.

  • Festival food can be pricey and limited in options, so eat something solid beforehand.

  • That said, check out places like LOA Malta, NAAR, —unreal flavors.

    • At LOA grab the bao buns. You’re welcome.

    • And for after the festival hunger check out Chequers Creperies for late night pizza and crepes.

📱 7. Screenshot EVERYTHING

  • From event times to ticket QR codes (for non DLT Events like night clubs), don’t rely on Wi-Fi or your data.

  • Malta has spotty reception in certain areas, and festivals = phone battery death.

  • Save Bolt pickup points, location pins, and emergency contacts ahead of time.

🧴 8. Bring These Essentials

  • Portable charger

  • Mini fan (June heat hits different)

  • Debit/Credit Card as the festival is Cashless (I was able to use my CashApp Card shockingly)

  • Swimwear (some parties are pool/beach-based)

  • Comfortable sandals AND party shoes

🤝 9. Travel with a Crew (But Be Independent Too)

  • Malta is safe and easy to navigate, so don’t be afraid to do your own thing.

  • PreSchedule Bolts if need be. It could be the American in me, but I was able to get a Bolt after an event faster than I would have after a Beyonce concert.

I had an amazing time at DLT Malta 2025. It wasn’t perfect, but the vibes, the culture, the music, and the energy made it all worth it. While I might not be returning in 2026—unless Wizkid headlines, then go ahead and VIP me again (might even buy a table, no lie)—I still want you to have the best time if you’re going. Whether you're flying solo, traveling with a crew, or just curious about what all the hype is about, I hope this list gave you a clearer picture of what to expect.

From navigating the UK-heavy crowd to understanding the event flow and maximizing your time in Malta, these tips are based on real experience, not just vibes. DLT is more than a party—it's a global link-up rooted in music, culture, and connection. If that speaks to you, book the ticket. Trust me, it’s a vibe.
